LVAC Fitness Festival

The first annual fitness festival at LVAC was amazing!  It was an almost week long event... We kicked it off with a Zumbathon on Tuesday night.  So much energy in the huge 20,000 sq ft tent at the bottom of the Rainbow property.  Wednesday night was 8 Strikes with Alan Giron....crazy time!  Squats, kicks, punching, lunges, burpees, ab work.....it was awesome.
LVAC teamed up with the LES MILLS mega quarterly so there were trainings and other events during the day and evening.  A 300 bike, indoor bike ride that I didn't get to do, but plan on next year.  The fitness buzz was in the air.  I wasn't planning on it but got antsy on Friday night so I went back for more.  The LES MILLS dance explosion featuring Shbam and BodyJam was fun.
A different kind of workout than Zumba but a lot of sweaty fun.  We did get to represent with one Zumba track and just before, ZES (master trainer) Abraham asked if I would go on stage with them so that was unexpected!  Glad I dragged my tail there for one last hurrah!

EVENTS!!!! EVENTS!!

Wow - we have event after event coming up. First off today was amazing at LVAC, we had two ZUMBAWEEN classes that were so fun. Pictures to follow. Thank you to everyone for participating and making it fun....and putting up with my forgetfulness.
So this weekend is LVAC's first ever ZUMBATHON!!! It will be held at the RIO Hotel/Casino during the Nevada Wildfest Event this weekend. Proceeds go to the Lilly Claire foundation for children with disabilities. There are two Zumbathons, both Friday & Saturday from 3-5p.m. Admission is $9 but if you bring your LVAC membership card its only $5. I'm teaching Saturday so come over! It'll be so fun!

"Zumba Love"

I've heard that phrase over and over but its a real thing......  Its that feeling of comfortableness, of non-judgement, friendship, party & fun!  It exists in most all Zumba class rooms around the world and it was host at the YMCA Zumbathon today.

Wow!

So much fun.  7 instructors, tons of energy, dancing, love & happiness, kinda like Woodstock or the E.D.C without the drugs.....hahaha!

The fundraiser was amazing.  My legs are hanging off after our four hour zumba-fest but it was great.  Thanks to the instructors, you are all outstanding and thanks to all participants, what a great turn out & support of the Y Strong Kids Foundation!  You all ROCK.

SALSA CONGRESS is coming to Vegas.  The 9th Annual Congress will be in town at the Tropicana beginning July 5th through July 8th.  This is the crowning Salsa event in Vegas so start saving your "dinero" and get your dancing shoes ready!!!  I'm seriously so excited.  I don't go dancing much, mostly because the late starting hour but once a year, I plan on congress.  There will be workshops, performances, live dancing, and great people from all over the world that love salsa as much as you!
You can pick and choose what you come to, workshops are offered during the day Friday, Saturday & Sunday.  Dance shows begin at 8:30 nightly and social dancing into the wee hours of the morning. It's reasonably priced and worth every red cent!  Check out the website HERE

This is a great opportunity to test out classes you haven't tried yet at Las Vegas Athletic Club.  Classes are bite sized at 30 minutes each, there will be great energy and fun.  You can also try out the new Room 3 for Hot Hula or what about Booty Blast??....I heard that is HARD CORE but way fun.  You can also bring a friend to try out the best gym in town.

Las Vegas Salsa/Bachata Festival

Heres info (as promised in class) for the Salsa/Bachata Festival this weekend.  Unfortunately I can't be there but it will be a great opportunity to learn some new steps (Saturday) or just go in the evenings to see AMAZING performances and social dance.

AMAZING

Here are some pictures from the Adolfo Indacochea workshop.  IT WAS AMAZING.....
The way he taught was incredible.  Broadway Hall was full of people, mostly ON1 dancers.  He taught us without counting and just using his voice (with a tumbao rhythm) and had us dancing ON2 within 10 minutes.  AMAZING.......I LOVED IT!!!!!!
After social dancing and hanging out, he and Carla danced for us.  I'm having trouble uploading that video so check back for that.  They are awesome dancing and I love how the really "feel" the music and interpret the nuisances within the song.   

Learn to Dance Salsa this week

When I first started dancing salsa I was so confused when people talked about dancing ON1 or ON2....calm down....... its just two different styles of Salsa.  There are many!
So out here in Las Vegas for the most part we dance ON1 or LA style.  It's when you ladies start with your right foot back on the first count of the music, men forward with your left.  ON2 is also known as New York Style or East Coast style.  The beat is the same, 1 2 3, 5 6 7 but ladies start 1 on the right in place and then forward on 2 with the left foot.  It creates a different pattern and gives a lot more room for styling and "sabor" or flavor. LA style has a lot more large movements as well as tricks whereas NY style is more about the "feeling" behind the dance, or so Ive been told...lol  I have not learned to dance ON2 yet.
